Done the whole run once including John o' Groats, and many times without it.
Tis in fact our back yard.

Caramba! Somebody stole my big idea
Delighted to see how similarly this aligns to our own highly prized driving gems.
Hope it doesn't get *too* popular...I like the Inverness to Achmelvich stretch deserted thankyouverymuch
And dream on. It's no Route 66. It's better...

I always find the John-o-Groats section v dull....prefer to come back down the middle past Lairg etc. The rest is just wonderful....esp Gorstan - Achnasheen - Kinlochewe (as per the pic....

As you say Graeme, John o' Groats is really only a one off, the rest of the time we have done Durness - Tongue - down the middle on the single tracker to Lairg.
To complete it Skye should really be included as well.

At this point I should post up Jools' story of the Tour d'Ecosse trip back in 200, which included the JOG section

Spot on Graeme. I did almost exactly this run about 3 years ago in the Boxster. A couple years earlier I did it in the Elise but cut down the middle road to Lairg and that is so much better. From midway along the top to JOG and then down to Inverness is dull by comparison.
And I agree, that first pic looks like the road down from Achnasheen to Kinlochewe. Easily one of my favourite bits of road.
