PS3 GT5 Steering Wheel and Pedals

Post by Alistair » Thu Feb 12, 2015 10:51 pm

Hi

Just a long shot...

Last time they visited Campbell's son James requested a night round at ours some time for a shot of PS3. So I thought it might be quite nice to have a boys night.

Problem is - Campbell can't use a PS3 controller very well :blackeye

Wondered if anyone within reasonable distance of Linlithgow might have had a wheel and pedal set we could borrow for the night to give him a fighting chance? :-)

In all seriousness, would be nice for wee James to get a shot of wheel and pedals - sure he'd love it.

Let me know if anyone has anything - will ensure they are looked after (would consider buying if you're done with them - probably won't be long until our wee one Cameron wants to take the wheel!)

Cheers

Alistair

Hi,

Yeah, I might be able to help out here. I have a pretty decent Logitech G25 wheel and pedal set that's currently unused. I've never tried it on a PS3 though, but think it will work fine... If it's of use, let me know - I'm in Bo'ness so only 5 minutes away too :)

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks Steve - knew SE would come up trumps!

I'll double check compatibility, and drop you a PM once we've sorted out when they are coming round :-)

Thanks!

I've done quite a tour of Scotland over the last 2 years Campbell. Moved out of Glasgow to here in Bo'ness, but after Bea got her MSc, she was offered a contract position in Wick. 9 months later + 1 baby, we moved back here to Bo'ness - just at the crossroads by the BP garage. Not that I was ever a real Weegie, I can lay absolutely no claim to that title anymore as I don't even live there

A Logitech G25 should work perfectly with Gran Turismo 5, and should be one of the best ways to play the game I reckon.

So we've only needed about 20 mins to plug everything together. 15 of which to locate where the power jack goes.

Awesome!

What a great night!

We discovered -

- James has his Dad's temperament when it comes to winning/losing ;-)
- James picked things up really quickly after sussing out the racing line and braking points
- I need some practice using a steering wheel rather than a controller at GT5
- My 3 1/2 year old son can make a decent hack at accelerating, braking and steering (but was disappointed his imaginary rocket booster wasn't working)
- Boys nights in are the best!

Thanks Steve - really appreciate it. Will be in touch re return of kit.

Cheers

Alistair
