Brent A and B now joining D in being shut down and ceasing production.
I spent four years in the 70's based offshore in a Bell 212, flying the bears back and forth twice a day during the construction of them, and acting as the safety helicopter.
Anybody know how they are going to dismantle them and what the cost will be?

Re: End of an area.
Hi Tut,
Was involved with Brent Delta for about 4 years, really is the end but it will have taken a while to get the Topsides off. Believe they still have to work out what they'll do about the concrete legs.
Some info on removal vessel here http://www.oedigital.com/component/k2/i ... t-removals
Cheers

Good link now on BBC web page http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-31110076
Re: End of an area.
I started as an Operations Tech on Brent Bravo and had the privilege of being Installation Manager for Alpha, Bravo (and Charlie). It really is sad to see the end of them, although BC still has a few years ahead of it. The single lift of the top sides will be something else.
Re: End of an area.
I am on the Brents just now, head out tomorrow actually.
Yep just as said, Delta off first, followed by the rest. The platforms are exceptionally busy at the moment due to the decommissioning. I reckon It will be a bit of a sight to see when they lift the platform off the legs. From what I am told, nothing will happen exceptionally quick with the Bravo and Charlie, so work about for a bit to come.
Everything running off the Charlie at the moment. And as usual, nowt changes with the weather, got cancelled today!
