Almost every comparison website has a T&C that says you have consented for them to give your data away to partners........you cannot get the quotes unless you accept that condition.
Fact is companies like moneysupermarket see your details as a revenue stream and will sell it to the highest bidder.....unless of course you sign up with a false number (07973 100123 is the EE voicemail number which usually fools any site).
Some years ago i used to buy the data of people who'd applied for loans online and been turned down, we woudl then call them and offer them a sub prime loan from us. People used to get very very angry about us having their data but they hadn't looked at the T&C's, they'd just hit "accept"
