Found this really interesting. Had no idea the Timex factory built the ZX spectrum .... that was the catalyst in the 80s that sent me down the path of computing :D .... like many in the area it seems.

Must be the only one in the area that did not have an off the back of a lorry 48K :D

Will have to give that a read later.

My mum worked in Timex when they assembled the 48k. My grandad wanted to assemble one as he was a bit of an electronics man in his day (though more radio wise than anything else). I now have the 48k he had, which I'd say was probably never even turned on. It's shiny ;)

I didn't start gaming until 94 so largely skipped the Spectrum.

The ZX81 which predated the Spectrum was also made at Timex :D
