MISS MY ELISE AND EXIGE!

Post by ninja » Mon Aug 11, 2014 12:40 pm

is it odd that i'm currently loving my evora S but i still have a wee feeling of loss when i think about the elise and exige S? they were so much more basic than the lotus i currently have but fook me they were fun!

oddly i don't miss the porsche cayman or merc SLK in the least wee bit

I don't think it's too odd. There is a certain appeal to the minimal nature of the elise (and exige I s'pose) that you don't get in other cars. Evora is a mighty impressive package and a great tourer, but it's not quite a raw as an elise. IMHO

It's funny, I've been thinking this too, esp. with the influx of new Evoras to the group.

Assuming i ever get out of this penniless phase in my life, I've wondered what I would do... Would i return straight into an Elise SC (Loved it so much!) or would I consider a more comfortable Cayman/Evora S. Or just splurge and buy an Exige S?

No idea, sadly not something I have to worry about anytime soon, and I am sure when i do, I'll probably ask the question on here!

Not had the pleasure of driving an Evora to date but I saw one in motion in Dundee last Friday and it really was an impressive looking vehicle.

I had the same feeling having to go from an S1 to an S2.

However for me there was little change in engine spec, although CC gave another 45hp, weight went up about 40kg, but it is a much more pleasant car to travel in, not as raw, would keep it just for the roof, and N3 was really on its last legs. The new car is better than new after Keith finished with it, so hopefully it will outlast me.

ps:- stayed out on track at Afford yesterday for 1.45 in one session, tried to come off but the queue kept growing for N3, so ran out of fuel in the end. Flat in 2nd and 3rd ended up with less than 10mpg. Instructions were no drifting, but got some leeway after taking the Marshallers out.

Unfortunately on one lap a lassie dropped her camera on my knee, went to grab it, the camera not her knee, and clipped a cone on the filter lane. Must be heavier than the ones at KH as it put four small cracks and a scrape in the left wing, but will get that sorted out straight away by Alan Ramsay and get some sort of protection for the front splitter, no way of keeping that chip free, so have been using a felt tip pen to keep it black.
