My last car was sold by guy doing Faster payments in my house, deposit provided a week beforehand also through faster payments. Doing small then larger payment to a new account is a good idea as it stops payments getting stopped by internal fraud systems, they tend to stop behaviour like set up a new payment party then instantly pay them £10k.
Faster payments is near real time which means guaranteed in 2hrs, almost all go through in seconds for all signed up banks, but as mentioned 2hrs isn't great if you are standing in their driveway waiting for it to appear

If you send a toekn amount first it is all set up so the next payment is dead easy.

I've bought cars for cash and by bank transfer, and sold the same way. Most people are just nice, or at least honest (ish).

As time goes by the easiest way is just to always buy your new cars from someone you know. I always buy McApe's old cars.

I'm not sure why.

Last big purchase I made privately I used internet banking on my phone in the guys house (after transferring a deposit a few weeks earlier)
He checked a few minutes later, funds were there. I never considered different banks so perhaps I was lucky or the banks have caught up with the times!

P.s what ya getting Mark? :)

Thanks guys, I transferred over a small deposit to him yesterday and he got it fairly quickly so looks like the best idea may be to just do a bank transfer at his house.

Ross, I've bought an S1 which is in need of a little TLC. I'll use it over summer and then give it to murrays over the winter to do a full refresh and paint. After 3 S2's I figured it was time I did things right and get an S1 ;)
