N3 being rebuilt
Re: N3 being rebuilt
That is a horror picture luca, and obviously I had no idea it was in that state or I would not have even driven it. The engine mount is a mystery, apart from the complete lower stripdown that we did three years ago, Murrays also had it in two years ago for a complete inspection and replacement of any necessary parts.
It looks as if the heat shielding has burnt out since that was done and made such a mess of the subframe. N1 TUT also had to have a new subframe fitted along with around 70 hours of work at Murrays in 2012, so it would seem that the BLiNK conversions have something to be accounted for.
Have you stripped her down as far as you are going to go yet? If so I hope that there will be no more surprises or else I will have to pay my shrink a visit.

rear, nearside shock (which with the amount of rust in the broken part, must have been there a bit)

then I'll give 10 points for whoever spots what's wrong:

and then (no mr officer, this was not an actual car, i'm publishing the photo just for light entertainment purposes):

Hahahaha... that disc fitment is class, the bigger holes are easier to find in the dark, eh Tut?? lol... and the suspension and tyre mean that maybe Tut's not losing his touch after all, now he can blame his tools lol

Worryingly I think I was stopped in front when that flat spot occurred (up by Tomintoul way...).
Ah, you just drive around these minor imperfections and skill compensates.

Re: N3 being rebuilt
All explainable luca.
I posted a pic of the broken spring, I also replaced the two rear MMC discs as I thought it was going to auction, with ali bell ones. I also took off the front LH wheel as I had just fitted new CL pads and started to replace them, when they told me that I could buy it back, and you asked me to.
Just checked all my spare disks, MMC's only have four holes as do all the others except the ali belled ones which have eight. Did not realise that, but as I only wanted to get the wheel back on and I was aching, I just fed it on. Must have been lucky the other times, or did not notice if there was any difference. She still went around the track as quickly as ever, so that was the main criteria.
Well remembered Ali, it was going up that way at the narrow bridge and the oncoming car looked as if he was going to stop and did not. Good job that my cadence braking matched your ABS.

Realise that luca, and they all enjoy a good laugh at the old git, especially when I wave as I pass them on track.
However please let me know if you would like your money back, tis one thing to sell you a lemon, another thing to sell you a melon. (ooh, an anagram)

Re: N3 being rebuilt
Tut, as I told you and as you'll see, this is not an "investment"...I didn't buy it to make money or try to get a cheap converted S1. I did like the idea to give N3TUT a second life and I like to play with the car and make good of whatever is not so "perfect"! So all is goodtut wrote:Realise that luca, and they all enjoy a good laugh at the old git, especially when I wave as I pass them on track.

Re: N3 being rebuilt
That is what I was hoping for luca, as jokes aside, N3 meant a lot to me, S_E would have been a less humorous place without the two of us, and if I could have done what you are doing then an insurance claim would never have gone in, which is what Keith did, and ended up with a car as good or better than a new one.
As long as you are happy that is fine, though I will probably be a little envious when you get her back to the condition that you are aiming for.

Told you that mechanically it was excellent Robin and that it was just the bodywork that was rough, but looks as if I missed the odd problem.

Re: N3 being rebuilt
Good luck Luca.
Regards engine mount, I believe the early blink conversions as with Simon S's kit ( I believe one and the same) only ever used 3 engine/gearbox mounts. One each side to support the weight and a third to stop rotation which was the long stay underneath linked to the bell housing and tied into the chassis cross member. The rear gearbox mount which tied into the subframe came about later. It looks like the top gearbox support/mount is either twisted or the assosciated bush (same as K series) had completely disintegrated which would drop that side down onto the subframe.
