Had a loan of one while the Puddlejumper was being serviced - quite liked it.

Engine felt very tight (only 850 miles on clock) and had a bit of a flat spot at about 5000 rpm (maybe because tight) and the noise was a bit weird to me (never been in a Scooby), but it had nice suspension and steering and was very fluid - wouldn't mind trying one that had a decent amount of miles under it's belt.

A Scooby version passed me the other day in Old Deer and George Williams had one (on loan I think) and it looked good

I have recently bought one.......and I'm very happy with it

After changing my CaymanS and the everday Fabia vRS for a blingy white Golf Gti VI with DSG, I realised I still had a pulse. The Golf suited me for everyday duties but I never gelled with it as it ain't much fun to pedal.

My initial test drive of the GT86 was really short and left me more confused than convinced but I was sure I was wrong. Thought about it for a while, read reviews, reconsidered and had another test drive after which I was convinced enough to change, if nothing else to get out of my Golf.

I would now say that it does fulfill most of my demands from a car. It's not FAST but fast enough, the airbox noise gives you a sense of speed and the limited power means you can 'rag' it without fear of reaching stupid licence losing territory before the smile creeps across your face.

It seems practical enough and well nailed together, which is something the Golf wasn't, and reminds me greatly of the cars of my youth, enough grip and power to be fun. It goes where you point it without being fidgety and compliant enough around town. I think I would happily say I'm chuffed with my choice and have even caught myself looking back at it.

And referring to comments made elsewhere, regarding the ubiquity of the Porsche, I've had it for two weeks and haven't seen another

Apparently the engine does seem to 'loosen up' after a few thousands miles, so should feel a bit livelier at that stage.

If I were in the market I think I'd opt for the Subaru BRZ. SE Lux is £23,995 otr with 5 yr warranty, looks a good buy
