Todays' run

Post by highlander » Sun Apr 13, 2014 11:40 pm

Had a wee jaunt round the Border region today and stopped here for lunch....Tibbie Shiels Inn.
Not the usual SE weekend away haunt but the camp-site is at waterside, they have fire pits and firewood available....food in the hotel was good home cooked pub grub....didn't try the beer!!
Any of you regular campers think this place would be worthy of consideration or de we all like to be beside the seaside?

Always happy to try somewhere different. The 'no drunken behaviour or fires after midnight' clauses on the website might be a sticking point, unless there's somewhere nearby we could go?

Sorry, didn't read the disclaimer/rules.......surely there's never any "drunken behaviour" at SE camping trips :D .......this is of course open to interpretation!!
Have a look at location on google earth, the 2 lochs are only a few hundred yards apart, maybe we could use the other waterside....or arrive/book enmasse for sole usage and fires after midnight :D

Borders does sound good location for a change, at a push I could pass on the beach but would want a fire for getting us all together, preferably waterside but at least away from the middle of the campsite.
I do think we would get removed from that campsite though late Friday night/ early Saturday morning with the no own booze, no fire after midnight, fires only in fire pits, no drunken behaviour rules. :?

Jeez, never read all the "rules"....no own booze is a bit harsh even if they're running a pub!!!
Best if we give Tibbies a miss, sounds a bit too anal....shame as it's a nice location although was a bit windy on Sunday and looked to be like that in general.I work around the Border region a fair bit during the year and there certainly are some nice roads for a weekend away/day out.Went to Carter Bar last year via Kelso and home up past Gala in the yellow Elise and it was a memorable run.i'm going to make the most of any good weather we get this summer and rack up the miles :D
