Why do Red Bull insist on covering their car as soon as it breaks down mid lap. Who's going to want to copy it?
09:24:
The German climbs out of his car and helps the marshals push it back to the garage.
09:22:
Unfortunately for Red Bull, Vettel doesn't even make it to the pit-lane exit this time...
09:20:
Red Bull fire up the car once more and shortly after, reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel pulls out of the garage and into the pit lane for another attempt at a lap.

Re: F1 test day.
Just because their engine/powertrain is causing them problems, as is their tight aero package, doesn't mean that they don't have innotive interpretations of some of the rules built into their cars.
Not all are blatently obvious, (i.e. The williams rear suspension struts) and they don't want to lose any advantage that they have.
Maybe they are doing it so you can't see how embarassed they are ?

Re: F1 test day.
I've always wondered about this too. Surely any half decent photographer armed with a dslr and a quality fast zoom lens stationed at the pit lane entry or exit would very easily capture enough megapixels for any copying or rule interpretations to be spotted...
Glad to hear they are doing well especially since engine homologation happened a couple of days back

Perhaps they don't want sponsors being associated with a broken car. Was it not RR who would not let their cars be in open view on the back of low loaders and needed to be covers back in the day?

All the teams will do anything they can to minimise opportunities for snooping and photos when they can control it - it's really as simple as that.
Red Bull have even taken to putting screens around the flat bed transporter in pit lane (during testing) before it's raised and transporter driven away from underneath - so there's zero chance of seeing the underfloor.
