My parents have decided to ditch the rover 75 and have their eye on this

I have no idea what do look for with these so looking for as much advice I can get. They don't do many miles so fuel economy isn't important (40k in 12 years)

Aren't you thinking about the series 1 with 2.5 V6? It was notoriously sh*t.Dark wrote:Just about the worst car you can buy according to the Which? reliability & ownership surveys.
This one however looks a cracker - my old mans got a 2.2td4 and it's been brilliant, and reliable.
Only negative I can see is high emissions therefore high RFL.

A 2007 car so RFL not in the £400 plus bracket fortunately. MPG figures shockingly poor but if it's a low mileage car then probably not an issue.

Our freelander was the worst car we ever bought... 3 attempts to rebuild the engine
by landrover dealer which was sh*t service throughout. During our 1yr ownership... I genuinely counted 186 days sitting at the dealer. Joke and never again.
Its a long story... Sorry and the outcome never truly resolved. Move on.

Road tax looks like £490 that basically kills the idea dead. They do 3500-4000 miles a year and its just not worth it.

My mistake, yes registered before 23 March 2006 would have been £280 but the Freelander is £490 pa. Pretty scandalous really and likely to kill cars like this off or make them nigh on impossible to shift.BiggestNizzy wrote:Road tax looks like £490 that basically kills the idea dead.
