That is tragic news.

What a lovely chap and was an absolute pleasure on FF9. He kept control of Corbie, which was a feat in itself!

I didnt realise i knew/met him till I saw the BBC news picture.

My sincere condolences to all of you who really knew him well.

Still finding it hard to believe it is true tbh.

Mike
As Mike has said Chris was a very close friend to some of us. I personally knew him since '98 when we worked together in our first Financial Services jobs and as we had a similar interest in cars we started hanging out together. I was at his wedding in Vegas and he was at my sister's wedding (and mine but we won't mention that  ).

We used to hang out on Friday nights (boys night) for years and just get upto those things that boys do with my other mate John and more recently Corbie, Mike, Gav etc.

I'm trying hard to remember the good old days and keep that with me, some highlights for those who didn't know him:

The story of where he had got the bottle of Buckfast he had bought me probably for working on his old BMW 3 series shed; He had gone into Sainsbury's as he liked to shop there and asked a member of staff if they had any Buckfast as he couldn't see any on the shelves. The reply was "Eh, I think you need to try the corner shop, Pal". The guy must have wondered what planet Chris had landed from. As a Milton Keynes boy he was something of an alien to the 'Airdrie' ways and customs and arrived at my parents house proudly yielding the Buckfast. I quickly had to get to him and hide it under my jumper so my parents didn’t notice. When we asked him why he had tried to get Buckfast in Sainsbury's his reply was the usual "Well, I didn't know".

He took a good practical joke, for the most part, quite well. I'll never forget the look on his face after I got him to take a big deep sniff of an empty chemical drum I had found on a local farm. I just couldn’t believe he would even do it but he literally couldn’t breath or see for about 10 minutes and just staggered around whilst we rolled about laughing.

He often recounted (and very recently reminded me) in an exaggerated Milton Keynes accent what I had told him my Mum had said about him which always brought a smile. She had said: "He's a lovely boy but his voice goes right through me". :damnfunny

The nights of arm wrestling we used to have which annoyed him loads as the skinniest one of us all, my friend John, always won and Chris was usually last even though he worked out a lot and liked to show it. Our reward for losing usually came in the days after as we would find out that John had a lump in his arm and had to go to the docs to get it checked out or that his arm was so sore that he couldn’t use it for a week.

The night at mine when we all took the 'how gay are you?’ quiz and he was "just gay enough", I think I was caveman or something. It annoyed me for ages and he took pleasure in reminding me. It was mostly based on ones ability to attract members of the opposite sex and if you were "just gay enough" you were more likely to attract.

Good times...........

I didn't have the pleasure of his acquaintance but your story paints a great picture. My thoughts are with those of you that have lost a close mate. What a tragedy for his family.
