Aberdeen and North East Elisers

Post by tuscan_thunder » Fri Sep 29, 2006 9:10 am

As many of you probably know, I work as a columinst/journalist for the Aberdeen Independent and the North East Gazette. We have a circulation of over 100,000 per week between the two titles.

How many of you receive an Independent every week? (and who reads my column every second week???)

For those not in the City, how many of you see or buy the North East Gazette? (It's in it's second week of re-launch this week. It's now full colour and about 1000 times better than it used to be)

If you don't receive it let me know too.

And how many of you receive your independant a soggy mess of sh*t 4 days after the lazy twat of a delivey oik has slung it over your hedge rather than walk up the path & post it?

Will look out for your column.

Yeah I get both the Independant and the Gazette. Don't know if I've read your column though - I've never noticed 'Tuscan Thunder' on any of the bylines...

Baggy: The distribution is a sore point with me too. It's basically down to the kids who are supposed to deliver them not bothering themselves. Obviously, with 96,000 indys going out it's difficult to keep track of who's dumping them or not delivering them. But nevertheless, it does the product no good whatsoever when people see it being dumped etc.

My column will appear in next week's edition (my colleague Keith and I take it week about to create a rant) Not sure what the topic will be though.....I feel a speed camera gripe coming on maybe??

The Gazette should be a lot more readable now with the relaunch. The columns are fed through from the Indy one week behind.

You'll all also get to see my ugly mug grinning back at you whilst you read my column. You poor people.....

BTW, I'm open to any suggestions/complaints/constructive criticism. (I trust this is ok within SE regulations?)

It wasn't me complaining about the distribution...although a delivery boy did try to sell me a copy in the street a couple of months back. I was hungover and dressed for dog walking so possibly he thought I was homeless and may miss out

I have to say that we don't receive any publicatin at home, ok, one magazine only: Racecar Engineering.
And I buy sometimes MCN, but that's it.

Seen the Aberdeen Independent (at some point, I'm sure) but never heard of the North East Gazette.

Sorry (does that help?)

I'm in Westhill (Elrick) and we get the Indy, but not the gazette.

this all helps:

the gazette is only available in shops and should be predominately rural so i'm happy enough that neither Uldis nor Dlogan get it.

Westhill should, and obviously does, get the Indy. Uldis should get the Indy.

(this is basically, me finding out if the 'paper's reaching the places it's supposed to)

BTW this week's rant has been penned and, without spoiling the show (ha!), it's about speed.

John,

You should get the Gazette in Kintore. I'll look into that one for you.
