Endorsable tickets (points + fine) (speeding, mobile phones, tyres, parking on zig zags etc) are up to £100 (no insurance is up to £300 + 6pts).

Non-endorsables (fog lights, lights out, furry dice etc) are up to £50.

The fall out from that, I suppose, is that you take it to court, you'll be hammered even more. Deterrent?

Was this the same time that the penalties for poor motorway lane discipline were brought in? Does anyone know if people are getting done for this on the motorways?

Think it was Dom, but judging by the daily trundle up the M74 it isn't being enforced much  .
I guess it is not going to be regularly used as it's pretty hard to enforce unless the cops are following someone with bad lane discipline. It's not like you can police it from a standing point somewhere like you can with speeding. Although I have seen cops parked up in a liveried Disco on the raised viewing point at the side of the motorway and the driver was watching traffic through binoculars so maybe that was for lane discipline enforcement.
