new toy for renmure - e-Go aeroplane

Post by scott_e » Thu Oct 31, 2013 1:56 pm

Came about via deregulation , less red tape allows rapid development. 50k not bad for a new plane I would think.

Got to be on your wishlist surly Jim

Hope you are well.

Yeah looks good to me. Lots of talk of plane/cars or car/planes at the moment too but still stupid money. Interesting none the less.

Love this! Looks like either a Jimmy Bond or US airforce X-plane.. But it uses a rotary engine, so its only going to get 5 mpg obviously.. :P

Tut and other flyboys, why did they put what I would have thought of as the tail on the nose of this? Is it because the fan is at the back?

Cheers,
Robin

The Canard design is not new and has be around for some time - Rutan Long-EZ for example. It's advantage is that it is harder to stall, the small wing in the front tending to stall before the main wing which lowers the nose. It also keeps it in clean air. The swept back rear wing adds stability in yaw and roll (but that’s harder to explain). It is likely to be of a laminar flow design which reduces drag and provides good performance in dry weather. The design really requires composites which used to prove difficult to get aproval for - I think that's where things are changing in terms of red tape.

I think the Wright Bros aircraft had a Canard wing.
