Build quality is excellent - Far more robust than my previous high-end Vaio - Unibody design looks great, and keys are brilliant for typing on
System reliability - Unix based, so in 3.5 years it's never crashed & required rebooting. It gets left on for weeks at a times (just closing the lid to hibernate).
I find the OS very intuitive - Plus whenever Apple release a new OS, it's either cheap (£20) or £free (Mavericks)
Far less security / virus issues
It's still fast, even after 3.5 years

Cost (although had I bought another Vaio, I'd probably be considering changing it around now)
Playing with the 'guts' of the OS - With Windows, I'd be confident to do a few things in the registry. Apple's system is very alien to me... i.e. Using terminal - It's all Unix commands, and I wouldn't have a clue where to start. (Not that there's any need to).
Battery life has tailed off from 6+ hours to maybe 2-3, but that's after many many charging cycles
The need to run some programs under a Windows VM
Gaming - I don't use it for games, but if you did you'd need to run them via Windows, as there's very few Mac ports other than very popular stuff.
If you do decide to go for a Mac, it's worth knowing that Apple give (or used to give) a discount of 16% to full time uni students (plus 3 years free Apple care) - If you have any students in the family, perhaps they'd feel like treating you to a present using your funds?
