Sky moan (NLC)

Post by rossybee » Tue Oct 29, 2013 12:24 am

This is not a dig at our in-house Sky employee, just a moan really, as I'm somewhat helpless here :D

Got back from two weeks holiday in the states just over a week ago, and soon realised our landline wasn't working, with no dialling tone, and ringing it from another phone.

Our supplier is Sky, they also do our telly and t'internet.

Darling wife called them (account is in her name, so only she can deal with this) and was told there was nothing wrong as they can tell these things remotely, but would look into it and would have it resolved within 72 hours, which I thought wasn't great, but possibly a figure they give to cover arse, usually be far less.

I've now been offshore since last Wednesday, and I still can't call home to speak to wife and kids other than via one of their mobiles, thing is we get sh*t mobile signal at home, so I quite often can't get through...

Was told this afternoon that the t'internet is now out, so my good lady is now having to go to her sisters house to email them to alert them of this now!

Anyone else suffered such appalling service?

Bill has been paid before anyone mentions "tight Dundonian c*nt" :blackeye

No help with your problem, but as a side thought, when off shore can you connect to wifi?

Once you have internet at home, smarts phone + skype would be free and is much better quality than a phone call / potentially prevents signal issues, and can include video if you wanted...

Sounds more like a phone line problem than Sky, probably BT in your area.

I'm assuming your line isn't with Sky?

Sounds liek a sales pitch but when it's a BT line but we have your service it can be horribly complicated and we're not convinced BT do their best to help our customers.

If you've struggled to get it resolved if you IM me your account details i can get someone to help.

That's some feat! Having never been offshore, I'd kinda assumed that it would be a pretty standard thing, really surprised that it's not available throughout..

Apache are the main non-WiFi types in the north sea, which is a bit poor in this day and age...

If your have a line from your phone into your sky box, then I would try disconnecting it, restarting your sky box and then reconnect your line and restart sky again.

Had a similar problem (fully integrated with Sky) and my neighbour who is a BT engineer suggested that I try that. Seemingly the Sky+ line can sometime lock out your phone line.
