Youve been spending too much time with DDtB......it still looks sh*t....but it is a good car.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Amusingly... the more I see it.. the less I like the way it looks.

On paper it's excellent though.. so hopefully we see more 300bhp+ options out there soon with a gear box like that and 30mpg-ish too!

:cheers

But you can roll it in glitter. Then you have a fast glittery turd

So I test drove the M135 yesterday at Coopers with the 8spd auto and was hugely impressed by it.

The engine/drivetrain package are a bit of a masterpiece. Classic BMW straight 6 rasp, the best auto box known to man with bullet quick downchanges on the paddles. You'd never in a million years guess it was turbocharged. No lag, very linear power delivery and loves to rev. Seriously quick car. Interior beautifully designed and finished. Standard kit very generous. Ride surprisingly good yet excellent handling and very obviously rear driven.

I also adored the packaging, spacious enough but compact and easy to place on the road. It actually took me back to my old 2002Ti.

I was worried that it just felt like a fast BMW but to me it felt 'special', that impossible to define quality that you feel when your driving something that's the real deal.

Stepping out of the car, walking away and looking back at it, it was so hard to believe that something this ordinary looking can be this good. A deal breaker for some but a large part of the attraction for me.

Steering was fine but a little lacking in feel for my liking but then I could say that about 99.99% of modern machinery, especially after stepping out of the Lotus. Not a deal breaker.

So I think come next spring time I could be out shopping for one of these sensational little cars.

That M235I is one of the blandest bodies that I have seen for some time.

Top tip for anyone considering a Beemer with their new style interior....

Do not leave a coffee in the cupholder for too long unless you want the plastic around the climate control bit to melt and fall apart.

Cheap plastic and a bloody stupid place to put a cup holder... Bit disappointed with BMW for that one.

They should have left them like they were in the E90... They were superb.

Starting to get annoyed with a 200bhp front wheel drive car. I think what i need is a 26K rear wheel drive bmw :D

Whats the deal with bmw in edinburgh and test drives? Do they insist on coming with you, and limit you to 15 minutes of town driving, or will they give me it for 2 hours and let me have a play??
