There are 14m unique outcomes.

If you have 2 of those outcomes covered, then the probability of you winning is 2 in 14m.

If all 14m unique sets of numbers were purchased the odds are 14m in 14m - one person, and one person only, would definitely win.

Yeah, I'm wrong.

The percentage increase is correct I think, but my reasoning was nonsense.

Now that this has all been sorted out, I am convinced that I could well win this weekend.

However I have a dilemma. I have enough money to buy either a Ferrari 458 Spider or the new F458 Speciale. Only a choice between those two, no other cars in the equation.

Problem is which one, roof off or better performance to buy now, as opposed to waiting for a 458 Speciale Spider that may appear?

It's true that p changes each time you remove a card, but in the lottery we pick one card, then the game is over so we never consider what happens next.

Nah I wasn't writing 13,983,816 "to" 2. I was writing 13,983,816 "minus" 2. If you buy 2 tickets it does double your chances of having a winning ticket, but that doesn't halve the odds of winning.
I now see where I was completely wrong.

In my defence, I've just started on nightshift so my head is somewhat further up my chuff than normal.

No. You are still wonrg. I was expressing what graeme had said in a different way, and going off to think about it. But graeme was wrong. And I was drunk (although he did leave me confused).

Not drunk, I know that, but it's now lunchtime :D
