There is something about pressurising the fuel return pipe with a compressor and putting a tube on the pipe going into the fuel filter.

I always thought this was the wife's job, thus giving perfect cause for a right old moan :D

But then my brother in law did it to my sister's car. He's a dickhead right enough. Accountant :blackeye

I made same mistake driving a friends car years ago - think it was petrol in a diesel as well IIRC.

Only put 2 or 3 litres in before realising mistake - so just filled up tank and all was well.

Thing is - it was a couple of days before their wedding (I was best man).....

They were going on a nice holiday for their honeymoon later in the year - so decided that as a wee treat after their wedding they would go for a visit to Blairdrummond Safari Park.

Guess who had to get pulled out the field by a tractor once the tank reached the petrol (the two had obviously separated - the diesel and petrol - not the newly married couple that is!)

I laughed quite a lot when he told me!

Long term car was fine - just kept filling to the brim with diesel and no harm done.

Hope you get it fixed OK.

Cheers

Alistair

Once when I was about 18 I put diesel in a two stroke Kawasaki AR125.
I'd only put about 3 litres in so brimmed it with petrol and gave it a go.
My max speed went from 70mph to an astounding 95! Took a while to wind up but once it got there it just kept pulling :-)
Problem was I left a huge trail of very thick white smoke behind me :-/
I kept topping it up with petrol and it eventually went back to normal. I'm amazed it never packed in.

Flying scots, jees you must be old, my mum had one of them !
(which I got a hold of after my brother) it was like a banana, went around left handers better than right ones.
Possibly due to the fact that everytime we got around to fixing it, we either dropped it, or crashed it again.
Fun times.
:-D

My first bike in 1972 was a 2 stroke, triple cylinder, Kawasaki H2 750 Mach 1V. Seems that I was fortunate to survive it. It was the fastest bike on the road at that time.

"It was notoriously dangerous, being prone to up-and-over wheelies and speed wobbles. The dangerous handling characteristics arising from its mediocre frame design caused it to be nicknamed the "Widowmaker" by motorcycle enthusiasts of the 1970s."
