When they talk of low torque they compare it to other performance cars but as you say Donkey compared to normal cars it actually has really high torque. They also forget to mention that torque and power are equal at 5250rpm so the fact that the R engine goes way beyond that it has a very useable power band compared to others with higher torque that redline at 6500rpm for example.
The fact that power and torque are equal at 5250rpm is a consequence of the units we use to measure them and not really a characteristic of the engine. So I don't quite understand the relevance of that statement, though I don't doubt the Civic type R is a capable car (though clearly it needs a K

).

I think

my point was that if an engine only revs to 6,000 or 6,500rpm then the power doesn't have far to go past the 5250rpm (where it equals torque) so the characteristics of that engine
could make it seem more torquey. The honda keeps going to 8500rpm so peak power is usually a good bit more than the torque figure which is a charactaristic of the engine.
But I'm no expert engine builder so don't profess to have the 'book of engine knowledge'. Although I've owned a 1.8l Honda 'R' engined car a 2.0l Honda 'R' a 3.5L V6 and 2.0l turbo so experienced some of the different characteristics. I prefer F/I.
Not wishing to start a whole new K vs R engine debate that's for sure as that is pretty dull.
