A Question for the bikers...

Post by GregR » Wed Aug 21, 2013 9:54 pm

If I was riding a Yamaha R6 and pulling 8k rpm in 2nd gear, what speed (roughly) would I be doing?

50mph (http://www.gearingcommander.com) it's a YZF-R6 if you want to look it up yourself.

while in court once... er. spectating. a chap got off with a ban because the was doing a certain RPM inn his Subaru 'as it was a newly built engine and he was running it in' apparently he was only doing 98 mph and not the 112 that the copper clocked him at.

he got away with some point and a fine! lol +

If you reconnect your speedo, it will usually tell you your speed ...
:D
It depends what year model as well, some big differences between 2000-2008 and later models.
If it's for racing, get someone to give you a wiggle at different speeds.

Here's me with my afterthought posting again...
Depends on the tyres too, slightly different sidewalls/width from standard (lower or higher) can change speed by up to 5mph (not much more though as clearance on mudguards pretty limitied on them)
The side wall is a percentage of the width, so even if sidewall is same number as standard, if you have a different width, the side wall will still be different
