I live in Craiglieth; it's about as close as you can get to parking in the City Centre for free (about 2 miles from the castle), there are a few residential streets where you might get parked.
If you're coming over for the weekend you can park in on the street in Stockbridge or Comely Bank for free, there should be plenty of spaces outside the Police Headquarters at Fettes.

Good one! Which venue are you playing at and is the rest of your act as funny too?

The restrictions are getting further and further out and the city car park prices keep going up too. Greido's 2 mile radius sounds about right these days unless you can borrow someone's company parking space. Train really is the best option. Going east you might find some unrestricted parking in residential streets past Easter Road/Meadowbank, but it will be limited and still 1.5 to 2 miles to centre.

If you're just going for a show in the evening I got parked on Charlotte Square last night with no issues, free after 6.30 I think..

Not free but worth considering if you're parking for a prolonged period and don't want to use public transport. I have used them for parking in Cardiff and London a couple of times and was very impressed :

I have two empty garages at present (not always, but will have over the next month or so).

You can park there any time you like - just let me know you're coming as sometimes other people need to use them.

We're just on the dean bridge (dene bridge depending on which map you look at) so 10 minutes walk out of the city.

PM me if you need to use it.

Cheers,
Robin

That's really kind Sir. Got parked now on East Fettes Ave, so we'll just leave them both there for the duration. (Yes, why bring one car into a city when you can bring two?) thought you were on frolic?

Staying in Nira Caledonian on Gloucester Pl if you fancy a pint in an hour or two? Text/PM me.
