Pistonheads or Autotrader
Pistonheads or Autotrader
Wanting to sell a 2009 Ford Ka for a friend.
Seems that Pistonheads and Autotrader now charge Minimum of £9.99 for the privilege. For a 2009 Ka what would be the best option out of the two?

Re: Pistonheads or Autotrader
Piston heads is free for old / long term members from many moons ago... I can still advertise for free for example. Can someone post on your behalf?
Re: Pistonheads or Autotrader
Autotrader is the obvious channel for such an item.

I'll second that.campbell wrote:Autotrader is the obvious channel for such an item.
But if you can get a free ph ad then no harm done. Other than the traders and canvassers.
Gumtree a decent free alternative too, local rag also? P&J?

Re: Pistonheads or Autotrader
Autotrader is a lot more than £9.99- it's about £35 for the cheapest package I think.
It's definitely worth it for normal motors though. I wouldn't bother with pistonheads for that type of car.
As others have said I'd go for autotrader and gumtree as its free. eBay seems to be quite popular too but not sure how much they charge for a classified ad.
I recently sold an old diesel Golf, put it on PH, autotrader and gumtree. Had 6 or 7 enquiries, all via autotrader.
Last year I sold my 330d (so more of a petrol heads car) and had a lot of enquiries from each of the three.

Re: Pistonheads or Autotrader
I'd use ebay, but the classifieds, not the auction part.
I advertised my exige on pistonheads and autotrader and all the scam ones were from autotrader.
I wouldn't include your phone number or email with autotrader, they do a 'phonesafe' which stops a lot of spammers (i didn't use it.
)
Think pistonheads do the same, but again I didn't use it, but didn't get any bother.
Where ever you choose, as dull as it is, read the scam alerts on all sites.

Re: Pistonheads or Autotrader
Plus if you use autotrader, if you have a lot you want to say about your car to help sell it - extras, mods etc. They just don't allow it or give you space. If it's a standard car then it's ok.
