USB Micro adaptor.

Post by tut » Wed Jul 17, 2013 11:38 am

I think most of us use USB sticks nowadays, but on a small laptop like the 11" MBA, they do stick out a lot.

However I came across this and bought one. I can leave it permanently in now as it only projects a few mm, and have an additional 32GB, which is really useful with the smaller SSD drives.

They come under different names and go upto £15, but this is the same one and cost £3.20

I have a couple of Sandisk cruzer fit USB drives, for use in tight areas such as the glove box of our Alfa, and the front panel USB slot in our previous Seat (where sticking out is a real issue.and looks terrible).

Another :thumbsup for the Cruzer. I have had various levels of success with usb flash drives in the S-Max with some not working at all, some giving up mid song saying unrecognisable or initialising. Touch wood the Cruzer has performed faultlessley and only protrudes a few mm.

That's the one - though I've had mine maybe 18 months so it's only a lowly 8gb - was bought for an Alpine head unit at the time too

Great little drive, been faultless and is nice and subtle in the stereo / dash, just don't fit the cap as they are a    po'ed to get off !!

32gb on a pen drive. Great times to be in tech.
Working on connectivity for some Sub-Saharan offices. Broadband is measured in Kbs and affected by rain (WiMAX).

As it looks identical in size to the PNY, I was trying to work out the difference between them. It seems that it actually contains a micro flash card as opposed to a standard USB stick and it is a Class 4, whereas the PNY takes any sized micro card, so I fitted a 32GB Class 10.

Reading the reviews of the Cruzer one of the main complaints was that it was too small, which gives you an idea of the reviewer, and that it was slow with file transfers, which would not matter if you were using it for music.

Interesting to know... I bought it solely for putting my music on it and leaving full time in the Alpine head unit for my Elise. I could not be arsed connecting my iPhone up all the time. I did read the reviews about it being to awkward to remove which was a positive from my perspective. I've chucked all my music (28gb) on it today and will try it out over coming days.

The whole point of a product like that is because of its size you can plug it in and forget.

If you need to take it out again to top up, I have just tried mine five times and guess what?, it pulls out easily and goes in again just like any external attachment.

I really should not read reviews, too many of them are written by *******(fill in the blanks)

Music installed and works perfectly... Actually very easy to fit / remove despite being so small
