Skins - E4 tv show

Post by rossybee » Mon Jul 15, 2013 10:33 pm

Anyone watch it? About teens in UK.

According to IMDB it's an 18 but the latest series are toned down a little.

Suitable for a teenager?

Watched the first couple of seasons a few years back.

As a grown up I felt it was a bit edgy, though loved it ... still in touch with my teenage experiences I guess ;-)

Lost interest when the cast changed, however.

In some ways I'd say it's pointless unless it's a 15 - I believe it was aimed at teenage audiences, FFS...

No idea what it's like now of course. But I doubt it covers much that your average 12 yr old doesn't already know

Good luck ! Oh and watch a couple yourself...obviously ;-)

I think you should expressly forbid them from watching it. That way they'll enjoy it so much more when they disobey you and watch it anyway. :)

haha that's pretty much where I'm at :D

Sophie is nearly 15 and assures me its not that bad and that all her pals watch it

I did draw the line at her 11yr bro watching tho...

ETA - I suspect the 18 rating is pushed on by showing drug use, I've no real issue with this, I fully intend on her watching trainspotting as an educational tool soon

I think it covers some good issues that are totally useless for an over 18 audience, but the 15-18 age range can probably identify with,

however, this season seems a little darker and grown up - seems to have lost the mad/fun aspect of the previous ones :-(

ahh... trainspotting :-) best modern British film!

Never got skins, it seemed to be full of annoying bellends or kids as they are also known

Trainspotting absolutely should be used for this purpose, at 15, shouldn't she have already seen it though - maybe that's just the Whitfield schooled portion of me coming through ;)

She's at the Johnnies, so that's an education in itself :damnfunny
