Caterham servicing near Edinburgh

Post by Digital » Wed Apr 03, 2013 9:12 pm

I need to get my Caterham serviced and MOT'd shortly, but the place I was planning on using (Dreadnought in Callander) don't have any availability for at least a couple of weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions of a Caterham friendly garage I can use in the Edinburgh/Fife area? I need to get a couple of things done before the MOT, so ideally need a garage that knows their way around these cars.

Suggestions welcome :)

Try Westgarth Motors or HQ, both in Dalgety Bay, Fife. Mike Westgarth is a bike racer, who used to race a Sierra Cosworth and HQ used to be known as Dastek and has a big customer base in the Japanese 'Turbocharged track rocket' brigade. Both should be capable with a Caterham.
South of Edinburgh, Manor Garage at West Linton, Rob McKinna owns it and preps quite a few race historics. Of course, MMC should be able to cope with a Cat.

I wasn't sure if MMC would work on an older Caterham, thought it might be a bit too much of a shed for them...

Renny, thanks for the suggestions, I live in Dalgety Bay so if either of them can do the work that would be perfect! Will pop in on my way to work tomorrow to see if either of them can take the car in.

I hadn't realised Rob ran Manor Garage, my car was bought from West Linton so that's probably where it's gone in the past!

Cheers,
Jamie

G W Martin in Morningside MOT test just about every Lothian-based Caterham. The guys there know their way round them, and may be able to help with the items you need addressing.

Caterham servicing near Edinburgh

Jamie, I'm in Sealstrand and may have seen you driving about. I'm often out walking my 2 pointers by the sailing club. Will look out for you.

Renny, I'm over near St David's Harbour, but round by the sailing club is a favoured dog walking haunt for me!

I popped in to Performance HQ this morning and they were more than happy to take the car in, the chap at reception was really friendly and helpful, so the car is now booked in for next week.

Thanks all for the advice!
