DVLA

Post by Gareth » Thu Sep 07, 2006 1:58 pm

Guys,
My Mum sold her Porsche and was going to take her V5, MOT and tax disk into our local DVLA office to get her private plate on retention. Previously when I have done this this stamp your MOT with new reg number and issue you with a new tax disk.

Now they say they no longer do this and it now takes 5 days via snail mail.

WTF!
Can we just sell the car and deal with the plate later?

Nope, sell the car and the plate goes with it!

news to me man as i did exactly this last year using the DVLA in glasgow - stamped the MOT etc and sent back the V5 with a different reg No.

they did have to keep the V5 and get the reg changed and this did take a week or so but certianly the MOT was simply stamped, cost 50 quid to keep the number plate tho if memory serves correctly.
