Hotel suggestions
Okay just a quick one, I'm not working this weekend and girlfriend is off for half term. So thought it might be nice to go away somewhere for the night.
Not looking for fine dinning or hugely expensive. Got an idea in my head of nice country inn or hotel serving good pub food, roaring fires and rooms
Ideally somewhere about 2-3hours max from Glasgow. Any thoughts or recommendations

I was pleasantly surprised by the DeVere Village hotel in Newcastle. Very contemporary and very good price, we liked it so much that we're headed down to London in April and have booked a DeVere Venue hotel which is more traditional/authentic. They have many scattered all over the country so would be well worth a look.

Thanks but looking for somewhere a lot more rustic. When we go up to gairloch at Easter usually hang about this place http://www.theoldinn.net/index.html and that is the sort of thing I had in mind just not as far north os garloch though!

Old Inn is lovely but it's got paper thin walls in the bedrooms. Much to the embrassment of a neighbouring couple when we were there..Gooldie wrote:Thanks but looking for somewhere a lot more rustic. Probably a bit late but we stayed at the stonefield castle in Argyll when I was working down that way. It was great. There were a fair few bus trippers but if you want somewhere plush and relaxing it might suit and it's cheap on hotels.com or laterooms. You'll get decent cashback through quidco as well.
