roadboy not a goodboy

Post by Dandi » Sun Jun 12, 2011 11:49 pm

I'm sorry for my sad first thread, but I really need help.

I'm here to tell you a not so great deal, that's is going on from almost year, between roadboy and me.

-On the 30th of april 2010 I send a U2U to roadboy to have some more infos on the DTA S60 ecu and engine loom that he put for sale in the SELOC classifieds section.

-On the 17th of june 2010 I send to roadboy £875 to buy the ecu and the customized loom to fit my Honda engined S2.

-On the 13rd of july 2010 he tells me that he received the bank transfer and he's going to ship the ecu the day after.

-Nothing arrives and on the 3rd of august 2010 I contact him to know some news about the shipping and if he can send me the oil cooler fitting kit that he has for sale, all together with ecu that I'm still waiting for.

-On the 16th of september 2010 I send him U2U containing the size of my Laminova cooler fittings and I tell him my concerns about the DTA ecu after reading his words here: http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... &sk=t&sd=a)

-Very kindly Dan allow me to change the order, instead of the ecu he will send me:

Pair of JDM cams (complete with springs) - £250
Link loom for S2 elise (only 6 wires to splice) - £200
Oil cooler fitting kit - £150

For a total amount of £600 plus shipping.

-After months of wait, on the 27th of march 2011, he tells me that all the parts are ready to be shipped and he's happy to refund me the difference between what I paid and the parts' real value.

-On the 13rd of april 2011 he tells me that the following friday the courier will take the parcel and he'll send the tracking number.
Nothing arrives.

-On the 5th of may 2011 he tells me that FedEx collected the parcel on the previous 29th april.

Obviously nothing arrives and I have no news even if I tried to contact him here and on his email address several times.
The only thing that he told me via email, on the 20th may 2011, is that for some reason he can't reply to U2U here and the courier attempted twice to deliver the parcel, but I didn't receive any courier notice.
I asked for the tracking number but nothing has been answered.

I'm tired of waiting my parts after a year and I'm tired of being ignored, if this situation will go on I'll commence legal proceedings.

I hope that he hasn't a so unfair beahviour with all his customers or it's reserved just to me, because I'm foreign.

If somebody has got any news please contact me, I need those parts to accomplish my Honda conversion, here in Italy is very hard to get them.

Many thanks,
Fabio

Sorry to hear this, I have bought various parts off Dan in the past with no delays or issues what so ever, I found him very fair to deal with... It possibly could be a fed-ex issue or wrong address? either way I'll leave it for you and Dan to sort out between the two of you.

I hope you get it sorted and get your bits soon, sound out of character from my limited previous experiences with Dan :(

Hi Fabio,

Welcome to SE!

As per Mark's post, Dan has sent me things in the past; no problem at all.

It sounds more like an issue with the courier. Here's hoping you get it sorted. :thumbsup

Thanks Dominic

I hope so, but it's about a month that I'm waiting for the tracking number or the parcel itself.

Funny one this... Much more active on the seloc xpost thread with everyone jumping on the bandwagon
Dan has seriously pissed you off it seems - whether there was a parcel/ sale or not.

I'm not sure the online forum attack is the best route, but going with what you say, this is your last hope?
I hope if it's true, dan is sorting it out behind the scenes...

Starts off sensible, but boy are there some pricks on there that think their schoolboy humorous comments are clever or worth reading. Pop over there from time to time then wonder why I bother.

Just read the seloc thread, they're a bit brutal down there!

so refreshing when you see both threads side by side - SE'ers only offer their experience into the mix, rather than an opinion set to shock and get 'laughs'.
Using internet forums as a trader can be a very double-edged sword.

I think it's valid for people to post their experiences good and bad, provided they are honest and avoid being rude. It does not make sense to post until you've given the other party a chance to address the issues - that's only fair - everybody makes mistakes - the important part is what you do about them afterwards.

In the past we've had threads about both SLS and MMC and on the whole these were justified and in each case perhaps contributed to a change for the better.

Two caveats, though:

I don't believe it makes sense for people to post in a "me too" fashion - if you've got an issue that is worth posting, post it in its own thread or don't post about it at all. Posting on the tail of another thread paints an unfair picture to future readers - if you see one thread with 20 people moaning on it, even if the thread is three years old, you might be inclined to think that's the way everybody feels, and it obviously is not.

Above all, let's keep it civil. SE is generally a friendly place and whatever issues there are won't be resolved by name calling, so let's not take that route.

Cheers,
Robin

Thank god for moderation, I mean does SELOC not think that libel applies on online forums?

To give balance I've used Dan a few times over the years and have always found him to be a top bloke, very helpful, knowledgeable all you could hope for really. Hope this current issue is sorted out to the satisfaction of all those concerned.

I think that is the point Robin. There are probably plenty like myself that read it but made no comment, I was waiting for a Mod to address the issue, which would normally be to sort it out off the Forum.

However the comments that were made on here were from members who had actually had dealings with Dan and were positive, as opposed to those on SELOC which were mostly third party along the lines of "yes I heard the same from someone else" or " I read that somewhere before".

However if you are reading this Dan, as it has been raised on here you should now be able to contact him by pm to resolve the issue.

I see your in Italy, I had a parcel of inexpensive but reasonably rare parts vanish into the Italian postal system apparently without trace...
Good job they were insured but both the guy who bought them and myself were still seriously unimpressed!

Italian postal system is crap! Fortunately foreign parcel are managed by italian post only if they are shipped by origin country post, Royal Mail for example. If you use a courier such as DHL, TNT, FedEx, GLS, etc... you'll avoid this issue.

An appeal to all that people that meet regurarly roadboy or are going to meet him in a few days, please ask him why he's behaving in this way and what I can do to close this deal.
Thanks.

Fabio,

Dan is based a couple of hours or more from any of us so it's not certain that anyone will see him particularly soon.

However I'm not sure if you have tried telephoning to progress this directly? Details of Dan's operation are here:

http://www.spsautomotive.co.uk/contact/

I have a fear that the courier network has let you both down, but clearly the only way to confirm that is for you and Dan to be able to talk to each other honestly and without blame, and then for one or both of you to take the matter up with the courier(s) directly. I don't know what level of tracking they offer on international shipments, but there must be some kind of audit trail to work through at least?

One might think that because Dan has gone quiet, or become hard to contact, he is hiding from something - but of course it may simply be that he has no more help to offer. If there are specific details like shipment numbers etc that you need to obtain from him, then all you can do is keep trying.

Dan - if you are listening - then unless there is more to this, please pass on the info Fabio needs to investigate the problem and hopefully the mysteries can be cleared up. Otherwise, as SELOC appears to be showing, the vacuum will just be filled by speculative nonsense. Which is of no help to anyone, or any community.
