AA renewal.
AA renewal.
My renewal has just come through, and as usual it is almost £100 more than last year. I have the whole lot, Family and P&L on three cars over ten years old.
Rang them up and without argument they said that as a valued customer they would reduce it by £95, and also add on stay mobile for free. This provides you with a hire car for up to three days whilst yours is being repaired. I also added on N1 TUT to P&L as Clare is selling her MGF.
With two Honda'd Elises on that should make me an even more valued customer.

At the very least you should offer to let them sticker up the yellow one like a breakdown truck...

I always use my Amex whenever I can as I get cashback of 1%. With my wifes spending habits this averages £20K/year, so £200 cash back. Barclaycard Visa averages £13K/year with no cashback, so maybe I should look at the AA card.
Is it accepted everywhere as are the other Visa Cards?

Re: AA renewal.
Just tried to apply for a card on line, but it will not let me put in more than £1K/month for general spending. Called card services which was a waste of time, told me that I could not use reward points to renew my membership, and that cashback was 0.5% as opposed to the 1% that it states on line.
She advised me to call customer services. Did so and they told me also that I can not use reward points towards my membership renewal.

The card is on its way, so I will just ignore everything they told me.

Re: AA renewal.
Got my renewal last week £224.
Phoned and said I would be leaving, but that I would be signing back up straight away again. The equivalent cover for new members is £165, and Topcashback.co.uk are offering £50.50 for AA cover over £100. I explaned this would make me a saving of £105.
He then took £85 off. I thought Result! (Topcashback doesn't always scan). It pays to phone.
So thats £85 saved towards this years car insurance hike. (I haven't been bad, it's just that all the quotes I've been getting are a lot more that last year).

Re: AA renewal.
I must have done something wrong
I got the £250+ renewal so called up to get it reduced, only chipped £20 or so off so I cancelled it. Taking out the RAC equivalent with quidco cashback on top
Edit - Just seen AA cover on special offer on quidco £153 on roadside, home cover plus parts and labour . Then £60 cashback. I need to wait till tomorrow as it runs out today but will try my luck as a new customer

Roadside
Relay
Second member
Parts & labour on 1 car
Renewal quote £224
As above for new members £165
Price after phone call £139
If your going to sign up over the internet, have a look at Quidco/Topcashback too. You might not get the cash back, and if you do, it will take a few months. But its only a couple of extra clicks.
Also worth mentioning the cashback site deals if you phone the AA direct. We did this with Linda's T-mobile upgrade and got a fiver a month off.

Re: AA renewal.
If you have Tesco clubcard vouchers kicking around, you can use them for RAC breakdown membership - Did so myself yesterday (this thread reminded me that my breakdown cover had expired last month
).
It was £32 in vouchers for 12 months roadside plus relay = Quoted £69 online for this by both RAC & AA, so better in my pocket I suppose...

Thanks for that. Off to research from moneysupermarket etc. That was the price you got on the phone, so hopefully we get the same as new members...
AA parts and garage cover and all others except onward travel is £150ish, wonder if I am able to buy that through cashback sites? Never used cashback stuff before...
