S1 111S

Post by tut » Thu May 19, 2011 2:22 pm

I am helping a friend buy his first Elise, and he is looking at this one.

Would appreciate any feedback on this model from owners, seems a good bet at the price.

Car looks good, though I don't know about pricing. You would need to drive it really, though. At 70K it could be a bag of bolts or it could still be just the normal rattly thing.

BTW, well done on reaching 13.2 kiloposts.

Cheers,
Robin

The car and spec looks okay. The true state will only be revealed by seeing it in the flesh and driving it. Looks okay price wise too.

[anorak mode] I did not think the carbon dash insert was standard on the 111s - not that it's really relevant

It's had quite a bit of paint but to be expected - looks clean, nice and original, extra carpets and some ally bits but pretty straight apart from that. VVC = HGF of course but then that's part of the world or ownership ';). Got to be worth a drive, if it's decent will be gone in a week....

Still miss mine after all these years.

If a decent one, in titanium with red seats and roof came up.....

I'd be more worried about VVC mechs to be honest.
You all know about the issues I've had with mine from the start but that wasn't anything to do with it being the 111s...
Obviously the usual things apply when buying.. It says I was just serviced, but when were belts done?
Mine is now over 70k miles and to be honest I wouldn't dream of selling at that price - howeve it's been a while since I last checked prices.

Maybe Dom could comment on having just bought one recently as to whether that's ball park what they're going for?

Good point about the belts Ross, but it does say that it has a full Lotus or Specialist SH, so everything should have been done.

I bought the 111s on saturday. Drove home from Birmingham. I am delighted with the condition. There is bad wear on the inside of the front tyres. checked and adjusted tracking. it was toed in 8mm - that does not explain tyre wear. now set 0.5mm toe out. camber is set at -1degree on the front. Very tidy underneath. new front tyres next on the list.
With hard top and 33litres of fuel indicated, it weighs 780kg. surprised that it was close to the 750kg claims of the lightest models. Its great to have a proper drivers car that is easy to mess about with. one very happy owner.

Mike711,

I see a number on the side of the car in your photo. I presume that is you. What competition is that?

Wullie brought the car around on Tuesday and it is a very good example in nice condition.

We did not recognise the exhaust on it, but when he drove away it was making a lovely low, throaty roar, did not sound like a K.
