I wouldn't go down that route without on-site support.
There is the other option then of getting the SDSL from Ferg, and buying the virtual PBX from Ferg too and then you have your softphones. All support for the line and the phones back end is with Fergs company.

Oh and capex would be voip headsets, I think Andy might have a supplier he could tap for that :damnfunny

PS There is something very satisfying about being able to pull out your iphone abroad and make and receive calls on your office number incurring no other charge apart from either data roaming or zero cost if on wifi.

Another pointer to Lumison from me, only on assumption but I have heard Alistair talking about this kind of stuff.

Bit of a Lumison Alumni thang going on in this thread already mind you ;-)

Andy

Just shout - and we'll get it sorted - either via reseller or direct (no commission for Ferg or I so reseller may be best in true credit crunch SE spirit :-))

BT national EFM might be the best route - and as many others have said add on a hosted PBX and jobs a good 'un. Only issue may be lead times or location for EFM (Ethernet First Mile) - but you could limp along on a bog standard adsl in the mean time. Can you post the Postcode and we can check that out for you?

Cheers

Alistair

Not sure if I'm too late in saying this, but I know some of the mobile phone providers are moving into the business land line market, and heard a couple of clients singing their praises. Don't know much about it, other that it sounds like it may be worth investigating. :thumbsup

I still think for what you are talking about a hardware solution with simple built in IVR is the way forward. Simple straight forward to install and pretty robust and not dependant on data communications.
