B974 To banchory..

Post by Stumpy Nugget » Wed Nov 03, 2010 5:11 pm

Had the pleasure of heading up to Banchory today from glasgow and the GPS took me over one of the best roads I have seen in a while. (B974 fettercairn to Banchory)... magic. Surface was certainly better than any roads down here and it was dry.... If you aint done this before give it a shot, some nice steep climbs to go up full pelt...

Wish I had a tenner for everytime I have done it, but you are right, belter of a road.

Where did you join it, as best bet when coming from the South is Blairgowrie, Kirriemuir, Edzell, then Fetercairn, over the Cairn 'o Mount and onto Banchory.

its called the "Cairn 'o Mount", you should have done Glenshee on the way home. Would have made it a nice round trip.

I came from the A90 to Fettercairn then on to Banchory, however, on the way back I went a different route back through Fettercairn onto the B966 which was a good wee blast also... Not bad for a day at work.. especially when you get mileage.. so technically I did get a tenner for doing it..

I commute on this road at least once a week, great fun in the daylight, but I'm always worried about hitting a deer at this time of year.

I came over the Cairn O Mount on Sunday afternoon on the way back from Glasgow, just as I came over the top I was gob smacked, a guy in full biking leathers was jumping on a skate board for a ride down the hill. I sat behind him all the way down, I couldn't believe it when he was doing 45/50 mph. What really upset me was the fact that a had the camera in the car a didn't get it on film. Still it was an amazing sight.

Hi Uldis,

That was some run, I guess you did it a few times on Sunday. Looked absolutely fantastic.

Cheers

First thing this morning...

It was interesting on the way down, even more so as the van has less than 500miles on the clock  :damnfunny
