Right Guys,
Problem solved, I have spoke to auto glass who will do the job within the excess (£500). They did not know about the problem with the clam but had their technician call me.
I explained to him that I was aware of the problem and that the clam would be off when he arrived so that he could do the job. He said that was no problem, just auto glass will not let him do it. As long as he can get at it he does not care who takes it off.
Cheers Auto Glass. Finally somebody who is not out to rip us off.
