How about an A8 quattro witha 4.2 V8?

Add an LPG conversiona nd still under 5K!

With Phil on this, little bit bias perhaps as I have a sport but the rangie makes a lot of sense. Big, comfy, roomy, auto and all the toys. That and you can get them with a TV tuner so plenty to amuse yourself with on the commute. If I had to have just one car in this world then it would be a Rangie.
