Volcanic Ash cloud heading to the UK

Post by tenkfeet » Thu Apr 15, 2010 1:03 am

I hear a volcanic ash cloud may be heading towards the UK from Iceland depending on the weather . ABZ airport could be closed from midnight and Norwegion airports are shut . Will be disruption to all uk flights.

If it does come over the uk you may want to cover up your cars . Ash will make a mess of your soft top if it rains .

The forecast maps are changing all the time .

All flights (fixed wing / helo) on hold from Aberdeen this morning - Understand Edinburgh, Glasgow, Prestwick, Inversnecky and Manchester closed too...(May be others?)

A day of 'fun' for many, I'd hazard! :?

I can personally confirm that all Scottish Airports are affected today (they are stopping anyone parking in Edinburgh)
I will have to head home and have an enforced holiday now that my meetings are cancelled
:cheers

Ryanair have cancelled every flight in/out of scotland today. Probably means tomorrow will be screwed as well :(

I'm stuck in London, sounds like the ash might continue to cause problems tomorrow. :?

If I could hire a car maybe I should just go and see what's happening at Silverstone. Unfortunately no licence with me.
