Re: Bad news - Brian Jamieson
I won't make the funeral as I'm down south on business, please pass my condolences on to Linda. I'm in for whatever on the idea of the cup in Brian's memory - it ought to have a tie attached so we know it's his.

I can not make it either Colin, although Scotty very kindly offered to run me down if I could.

I saw the email from Tut with Brian's name in the subject and I had that terrible feeling in my stomach that something had happened, absolutely gutted I've know Brian for many years as part of the Scottish Elises and he took me out many times in his Noble at KH a lovely man, a gentleman and will be sorely missed my condolences to his wife.

Re: Bad news - Brian Jamieson
I am completely stunned and saddened by this news.
Brian took me out around Knockhill on my first visit there and made me realise what a good decision I had made to buy a Lotus and go along to see what SE was all about. This turned out to be one of several occaisions he drove me around Knockhill. It is totally his fault that I got brave enough to venture out on track in my own car!
As everyone has previously said a real gentleman whom it was an absolute priviledge and a pleasure to know. The friendly manner and way he talked to us all at SE events is exactly what this body of people is all about and we are all richer for ever meeting him. You will be sadly missed Brian.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time.
RIP Brian.

Re: Bad news - Brian Jamieson
Horrible news. I'll always remember Brian as my "car twin" as we both had Blue S2 Exiges. He always joked that mine showed his up due to its cleanliness but I always stressed that he showed me up with his far superior driving!
He really was a true gent and always gave me a wave if I saw him driving to work while I was on foot. I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face.
He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family.

Re: Bad news - Brian Jamieson
I was out walking through the woods with my kids this morning with their new puppy and somehow my thoughts turned to how Saturday mornings are so different now (although just as enjoyable), from when I had the time to participate in Knockhill SIDC days, meeting up with Lawrence and Brian and all of the SE regulars.
And now on the rare occasion these days that I dip into this site, I read this tragic news about Brian.
In those early days when we both had azure S1s, Brian used to rent a seat in the Knockhill Fiestas race series. Despite several racing incidents, mechanical issues and resultant cost he never seemed to be fazed about it, always had a smile and a joke. Brian went on to buy a Noble, also in his favourite azure colour and decided to use it as (it turns out, probably more than) Lee Noble intended. It was after he had driven it hard in over 18 track days, without issue, that I was impressed enough to also buy an M12. Of course not long after I had done this he started experiencing reliability issues, which persuaded me from then on only to do the odd track day! It was only after I'd locked up and hit the kitty litter going into Clark's on my first outing in the Noble that he mentioned, "Oh, I forgot to tell you how easy it is to do that."
I'm sure he even turned up once for an evening track day, ready to go out afterwards to a Scottish Enterprise event, in a dinner jacket and cravat! He knew how to live life: fast cars, fine food and wine, impeccably turned out. What a gent, I'll miss him lots.

Re: Bad news - Brian Jamieson
I don't think I ever met him but reading through this thread it is clear that he was the kind of character that the world needs more of. It is also clear that he will be greatly missed and I would like to add my respects and sympathies.

Re: Bad news - Brian Jamieson
One of our newest members Chris G from Aberdeen wanted to post this himself, but was a bit concerned that we might find it insensitive or that he is taking advantage, but then he does not know us well yet.
If you check out his posts, only 14, you will see that he was in the process of buying an Elise and asking our advice, but he really wanted an Exige which was out of his price range. As Linda was now happy for Brian's car to stay in S_E, we arranged for him to go along with Alan Gourlay and look at the car last night. This was on the understanding that if he was happy with it he would buy it by bank draft, and it would be an immediate decision. As you can see from Alan's pm's to me, that is exactly what he did, so a great result.
"Hi Tut,
Me and Chris had a look at the car last night and bought it this morning. Chris is over the moon (although, wish it was under better circumstances). The car has had new tyres, brakes, mot, tax and even a full tank of fuel. Chris is keen to join us at KH and road runs, so glad the car is staying local and used properly.
Thanks for organising, ill make sure Chris puts a good donation down.
Alan"
"Chris wants to tell everyone but doesn't want to hurt anyones feelings or look like he is taking advantage. I'm sure you can post and word it better than we can.
Cheers
Alan
P.S stayed at my parents in Falkirk last night. Thought we would go to my local with my Dad and celebrate the new Exige. So very hung over this morning."
There is nothing we can do about what has happened, but it helps when we know what his car meant to him, and that it will still be out on the track as usual.

Tut,
The best epitaph to any man is that he is remembered and remembered for the right reasons. As you say Brian loved his car so the fact that it will still be enjoyed will be exactly what he would have wanted. Enjoy it Chris.
Life is for living and Brian clearly followed that motto. I'm going back to Oman this week so will raise a glass of fruit juice in honour to him out there, as I know how much he loved going there.
