Living out in the fields I get regular little visits in the attic and garage.. tried humane traps with little success so they now get executed with extreme prejudice with the black plastic traps (baited with smarties) that have an easy set trigger mechanism. They go back to nature when they get emptied daily back into the field. :thumbsup

Had the same problem very recently, evidenced by mouse droppings on the kitchen floor over night. Caught a couple of them using normal baited traps, but this didn't put an end to the nightly mousie partying.

Bought one of these about a fortnight ago and have left it plugged in constantly :

Have to admit that I was fairly sceptical, but thought it worth a try.
Possibly tempting fate, and could well just be coincidence, but after about a week of use the nightly visits appeared to stop, and I don’t seem to have had any further visits since then ( fingers crossed ).

Will see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

Get a cat.

No more mice and it will keep your cat entertained for HOURS as it sits there and waits for them to appear.

Win-win

Don't get a cat, it will hate you and spend all day looking at you wanting you to die. get some cheapo traps and bait with chocolate. then all you have to do it throw the twaisted mouse corpse in the bin.

Standing on half chewed dead mice on the way to the lav in the morning puts you right off cats.

Use all of the above expert advice if you like......................... :thumbsup

However I would use SOREXA D mouse killer canary seed  or NEOSOREXA splitt wheat BOTH contain 0.005% difenacoun, the same as the professional pack, stick it in trays under the kick board in kitchen, loft garauge etc. Also go round the base of the house and check for holes........how do mice get in???? Check around steps at front back door also vents. REMEMBER a mouse can squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze through a hole the size of a pen fill with steel wool or cement up.

I don't use the gimmick Sonic or live trapping  its a waste of my time and dosn't work or pay...............

Happy mouse hunting

Not doubting the mouse killing expertise of Mr Noops but Ed and I once had a problem with rats when we were living in a pub. In the walls, in the roof and in the kitchen. Little fu*kers were probably in the bar also. Anyway, we used farm strength rat bait and it worked a treat. Trouble is, they started dying in the walls etc and started to rot causing a pretty revolting smell.

Obviously mice are smaller and won't smell so much, and if you've only got one or two it won't matter, but since then I've always preferred trapping (the nasty way) as at least then I know they're out of the house and not going to smell.

Rag_It wrote:Anyway, spoke to Noops about this as well last year, put down the humane traps last year, and spent my life ferrying mice across to Dundee for a holiday, and letting them free in fields....

This year i thought i would try a different approach...

Have bought some sealed snap traps and bated with peanut butter and choco drops - caught quite a few, however I also bought a sonic and electromagnetic plug in device from B&Q. Since plugging in the device into the mains, I have not caught any mice.... so unless i eradicated them (i doubt it) but i think the device must be working.....
We had mice a while back, did the same, humane traps, ferrying them to the fields, turns out you were brining them back to Dundee ;)

After ferrying about half a dozen, opted for the black snappy traps and used chocolate held on with peanut butter as above, or a block of cadbury caramel split in half. Caught another couple and have had no evidence since.

For those of you that think the snappy traps are immoral etc, they do offer a good chance for the mouse to die a quick death... Have you seen those sticky board traps? Poor mouse sticks to it until the person notices, overcomes their fears and/or until the mouse has starved to death. A friend of mine used them and said he often found bits of tails and even feet stuck to the board, but no mouse

Whilst my Exige was parked up in the garage I saw a mouse on the radiator under the grill. He was sitting there laughing at me as he knew there was no way I could get to him so I took him for a drive around Arthur's Seat. I named him Stig Mouse due to his white helmet and haven't seen him since.

Good old fashioned mouse trap.
Wee bit of butter on the prongs.
Set it - so finely - ready to pop off.....

4am - you'll hear it go off..... !!

They are vermin - remember that.
If you want a cute cuddly one - go to Pets r us...

The posion seed stuff works too - they eat it & go away to their nest & feed their young with it & kills them too.
However - once they are the dead they rot away & it's meant to smell.

If you can see where they are coming in - fill the hole with fine wire wool - they dont like that.

David
PS - Tarantula was horrible..... rather have a mouse than a spider...!
Two negatives make a positive but only in Scotland do two positives make a negative - 'Aye right.'

The above is found in all fine hard wair stores......they are the best of the semi pro stuff..........

Trappings fine... its a bit slow, however after mouse 1/31 sometimes you have to say " am I winning the battle here" your other half will tell you if things are going ok....

Usually my intervention is, when the husband has tried the nice trap an letgo ( only to re infest) ,the man next door says sonic ,yahoooooooooooo the end of all our problems  when eventually the hot hose on the dish washer has now been eaten through...after spending a further £50.00 :|

Its when I'm asked do these sonic thinks work.....my reply why did you ask me here??? or if they worked Rentaman would have the contract to have one fitted in every home, office, factory in the UK............Rentaman uses the same tried and tested methods as myself :| however he's a lot more expencive

I take slight issue with the vit K issue, if used PROPERLY bait will never have a problem :thumbsup if you poison your dog or some one elses, your a compleat twat and shouldent be let outside incharge of a kite.........

Last comment. Tom is right, sometimes rodents die in the wrong place and give off a bit of a pong........which can be a pain, however eventually the pong does go away :thumbsup I would rather have the pong of dead rodents than fire damage or worse  I have attended two jobs this year with both houses halve burnt to the ground due to confirmed mouse damage to wiring . One causing a gas explosion and one gutting with fire a loft and roof, you can guess your self the cost or repair..... :|

Its a bit of fun diy trapping etc.....however I see the other side of things which is not so funny.

We had a mouse in the attic a few days ago, i bought the humane trap from Homebase and checked it every morning, the mouse liked galaxy chocolate and was in the trap on night two. I let him free and ive not heard any noises since  its funny the noise a little mouse can make when you are trying to sleep.
I couldnt kill one though im too soft
