Hi, guys.
a Newbie, here. - looking for some advice on where's good to get a fix for a wee curb incident last week.
Down in Cornwall with the car and misjudged a curb while parking so i've knocked an 8x4cm hole in the bottom of the chin bit of the front clam. - most of the damage is underneath, and there's nothing that looks like it'll propagate (thank god) but there's too much visible damage just to cover up with a splitter, so i'll need to get it repaired and sprayed. -
Anyone used anywhere trustworthy within striking distance of Glasgow??
Any idea how much i'll be looking at
thanks for the help.
A.

dr al - you don't mention if you've got an S1 or an S2.
If you're driving an S2 and you're new to owning the car then you might find that the chin at the front is susceptible to bottoming out on some of our less well maintained roads when driving enthusiastically. There are a few of us with bust chins. I'll probably leave mine as a repair would no doubt be ripped apart before long.
S1's don't seem to suffer this type of damage.
Cheers,
Iain.

It is an S2, and i've been pondering that, but it's just a bit too noticable as it is, visible up onto the front of the "chin" bit. - if it were all out of site, or not quite so obvious i'd leave it, but I think i'll get it sorted.

Dr Al,
Good to see you made it!
I have the same problem on my S2, happened within 48hrs of ownership
I've stuck some duct-tape on it to stop it getting any worse, but I have a grey car so it doesn't show tooo much.
Most S2's I've seen on runs etc have had at least one 'chin' damaged.

steve is good! one of the guy's in my work has used him a few times with consistent quality results. unfortunatelly the guy in question has a Nedded up 306 that's dragging it's ass along the ground so needs repaired everytime it comes withing spitting distance of a speed hump or reasonable sized bit of road debris. but that's not steve's fault!

I'm with Ian on this one. Only worth repairing when it comes to selling... unless it's really obvious.
Although, for £60, you can't complain at that!

Hole was the size of an old 10p piece inthe jutty out "fin" bit in front of the front wheel right next tot he number plate. Goudies started talking about how far they were going to have to spray to get a decent blend. I said they shouldn't worry too much, just fix the hole (so it doesn't get worse) and do the best they can. That part of the car gets so many stone chips it is not really worth too mcuh effort. 100 quid for a proper job, 60 for a bit of a bodge - I opted for the second.
I've not examined it closely but it looks perfect from a cursory glance...

Ian,
I have found that if you jump an S1 high enough you can still ground the chin
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!
