Costco Tyres

Post by Sanjøy » Tue Jun 20, 2006 9:08 am

Mate dropped by and enquired for me.

Got you some prices on tyres,

205 50 15 V – Michelin Exacto 2 - £70.48 each

195 50 15 V – Michelin Exacto 2 - £45.81 each

225 45 16 V – Michelin have stopped doing the this size in the tread types they order in, there should be a replacement in the next month for this tyre!

I’ll check on that one next time I’m in if you like, this is the only type of these tyres they did the Exacto 2 model.

The tread pattern is different on the different sizes,
you need to get the BFG's if you want the same tread pattern all round.
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

And IIRC the Michelin are a harder compound (ie - useless on a Liz)

I asked CostCo in EDI about BFG's a couple of weeks ago and got a flat no.

I think they quoted 90 odd quid for michelin rears in std S1 sizes. Like a polite Sun journalist, I made my excuses and left.

In the end I bought 2 x T1-R's from Ladybank Tyres for £88 each inc fitting etc. This was only £2 more expensive than Black Circles

I wouldn't bother with the Michelins, as this is what I have on the rear of the Exige (it's what it came with). I have done circa 6 track days, crail once and a few donoughts in an empty car park and they are still like brand new so they cannot be offering much in the way of grip.
