who had the first elise on SE?

Watching the Evora vids got me thinking about who would be the first one on here to own one... then i thought who would be the first to take one on our very own knockhill...

..then I was wondering who was the first SE member to have owned an elise and then who was first to take elise on knockhill?

Del? Robin? tut? Lawrence? Scotty?

I came on the scene a few months after S_E was formed.

First owners would have been between Campbell, Kelvin, Lawrence,Robin, Dell.

I did my first KH in Sept '99 when the rest were on Stelvio '99, but I probably was not the first.

Ordered mine in March 97, delivered Feb 98. MMC didn't have any demo's so ordered on the back of the Autocar articles. Lived in Dunfermline at the time and visited KH one night after work as I'd heard some Elises would be there. Didn't see them on the track but got my first up close look around them, would have been sometime in 97.

By the time I met them in early 1999, both Robin and Kelvin were on at least their 2nd Elises! Del had his also, Kevin Smart (not sure if subscribed here but an SE founder also) had one, as did N1ck Rossi.

I was a relative newbie by their standards, therefore! Only Kelvin has had his car longer than I have...Del and Robin have chewed up several between them now

On my 4th... though destroyed one after 6 months.

Remember meeting up with Kelvin just before a proper group meeting with Campbell, Kevin and Robin (and Colin '22b')... was Nick there too?

Quite a lot of familiar names there, 17 of them have been to tuttowers.

N1 must be one of the oldest cars around now, chassis number 224.

Mainly because it was not set up until the middle of '99 Paul.

You probably had the first Elise on S_E if you bought it mid '97.

Blast from the past here.

Got my first Elise in Jan 1998 after a 12 month wait. Lawrence had one of the first- I remember him driving it at Doune in Sep 1997.

The first I saw on the road was owned by the guy that ran the Karting at Knockhill- it may be the yellow car pictured above.

I've just sold my Noble M12 and now have a new mean Black Nissan GT-R (13 month wait) . Still running it in at the moment but it is awesome, even at part throttle! Will pop up to one of the next track days now that I can get the kids in the back!

Hi Kevin!

My 2nd elise and Kevin's first elise where about 10 apart IIRC - arrived more or less at the same time at MMC. I bought a second hand elise from MMC whilst on the 12 month waiting list for my new one. I'm pretty sure Lawrence's (now another Kevin's) was one of the first sold by MMC - Graeme would be able to confirm that! I think Simon Ironside's (then shared shed, now PaulW's) car is perhaps the oldest chassis on SE? It had the really early fibreboard bulkhead heatshield instead of the reflective rubber matting stuff and I don't believe I've seen any others of those.

Paul - what's the vin on neenaw?

I bought my second hand one spring '97 I think - my new car arrived August 98 IIRC. Campbell & Lisas arrived in 99 just in time for Stelvio 99.

That would be my 2nd elise in Sep 98. Kelvin got his first about then too.

I remember when you had your first black S1, parked next to mine at Spider/Shiva. Seeing two together then was a rarity!

Interesting website, never seen that before. Interesting to see around 10.5k built in total on the stats page. I take it that includes the Exige as well. I suppose in Elise terms my car is a bit of a grand dad (though not quite like N1!)
