Inches from disaster today. Rounding a corner at 70, tractor/trailer turning across the road. Lock up the brakes (panic), four wheel skid, missed it by inches. Funny thing was, as I approached the bend (it's a road I know very well and I know there's a farm entrance half way round the bend) I thought, what the f**k if there's a tractor across the road ?. Will I be able to stop at this speed ?. From now on I wont just think it, I'll act on it. Could have been lights out for good!!

Ah you live to fight another day . Whats it the kind of tractor with the spikes on the rear ? Scary.

Its so easy to get caught out on roads you know . I have a local run that I know very well , problem being having gone past the same junctions / farms etc and been fine you start to think it will be ok every time. I did a driver course when I got my CTR which opened my eyes.

I live in the countryside and wrote of a Mondeo a few years ago by coming together with a tractor on a road I drive almost every day. :(

yeah, makes ya think doesn't it? I wrote off a (don't laugh) fiat panda years ago by (no, seriously!) trying to get airborn over a hump-backed bridge. It worked, unfortunately. Didn't steer so well once off the ground tho.
Walked away from it thankfully but it me realise how easy it is to kill yourself..been far cleverer since! A good scare ain't a bad thing

Yup - the good weather always gives you that extra bit of self-confidence... Scary when you realise how close you are to a major accident most of the time though...

Don't ask ed what happens when you're not wearing driving shoes, but big crappy trainers, and catch the throttle when your trying to get the brake......

Thank god the exige has ABS is all i can say.

Agree with the scare/accident thing. Lets you exactly how fragile you really are. I hit a tree at about 50mph and wrote off a Nissan Patrol   scared the bloody life out of me. Taught me a lot though.
