How long does your battery last?
Got one on friday, and lucky if it stays charged for a whole day. Old phone, MDA Compact III lasted around a week with my usage.
No, No! not Bloke. It's pronounced Black, as in Plaque

DEpends how you use it really. If you use it to surf the net alot it'll not quite last a full day I've found. Have you been making sure any applications are shut after you use them, this should make a difference.

I'd have the iPhone over the HTC TD if the former had been available on orange... but it's not and o2 couldn't get near the orange deal.

Heather's battery wasn't lasting too long as she was using it lots but she's done a few tweaks to improve things I think . . . I'm sure she'll be along to explain!

Mine was lasting a good 2 - 3 days but that was before starting to use it for browsing. My unlimited data package with Orange only started yesterday, so I'll see how it goes now that I can use it online.

A day is good if you have everything on - when you consider it could be running bluetooth, 3.5G, GPS, web browser, etc, etc. at the same time. It's doing quite a lot so I can live with a day as I don't mind charging overnight.

My HTC TD battery wasn’t lasting long at first, but after a few charging cycles it has been a lot better. I also had everything switched on and updating every second! Switched to hourly email, weather checks now and it lasts 3 or 4 days. I’m sitting at a desk most days, so just charge it in work. There are some cool tweaks you can do to speed up your TD and a wealth of software for it if you look around online. I love it :D

Thanks Heather/Dezzy,

No bluethooth on, only GPRS connection around here, WiFi on occasionally, emails every 30 mins.

Have updated to the latest ROM 1.93. from what you say it must need a few charging cycles then, I'll give it a couple of weeks. The problem is that the extended battery, well, extends, so dedicated phone holder or case will no-longer fit.

Tweeks
Gsen - so you can choose which programs use the automatic portrate/landscape tilt thing
TF3D - rearanged the order of the 3dflow tab buttons. Also does lots more
Manilla Editor - used to change default program launch

Programs
Tomtom 7
Resco Explorer - file explorer that allows network drive mapping
RDM+ remote desktop control
Pocket Informant 8 - used Manilla editor to make this accessible from Calendar on the home screen.

That's it so far.

I've been looking at the iPhone for some time now but I just cant make up my mind about it. Most on here seem to approve though so I'll look at it again. Maybe someone on here can answer my queries so as to finally convince me!

1/ Does it sync with Outlook, and back up contacts and calendar etc?
2/ Is the calendar usable? I use my phone as my diary, and store all my shifts, appointments, birthdays etc in it. If I couldn't do that then it would be a deal breaker probably!
3/ Mms's? I've been told it cant send or receive mms's. Is that right?
4/ How's the size? Is it a bit big and cumbersome. (i'm thinking about when I have it in my pocket when out on the drink!!) I could always keep my E65 as my drinking phone!

Andy
Once had a '2006 Lotus Europa - bit more power version' but it leaked real bad!
I'm the unluckiest guy in world when it comes to cars, the last 12months being proof of that!! Why couldn't I just love uncomplicated things instead........................?

Yes it does support Outlook via Exchange I believe but I'm a Mac only person so can't say for sure.

Again, as a Mac user the calendar function is great and with Mobileme and it syncs with iCal on both my Macs. I use it as my work and home diary.

Yes, that's correct, no MMS's I'm afraid but email is really good so I just email my pix! MMS's sent to you can be picked up with Safari via the O2 website.

It's not big but it is, because of the screen, a different type of shape from the SE/Nokia type phones. Not had too many problems
with it in pocket. It does need a case though and the selection at the Apple Store in Glasgow is the best, plus you can try them out
in store.

So is the "Apple store" the best place to buy the phone then, rather than an O2 outlet...?

Don't think it matters much where you buy the phone from - I bought mine online from O2 and got one for my wife
from Carphone Warehouse.

The best selection of cases and other accessories has defo been in the Apple Store!
