Looking for Panorama Software (Canon Photostitch?)

Post by Skyenet » Mon Jul 07, 2008 1:52 pm

Enjoyed playing with my new Nikon D40 over the 060708 weekend but the lack of wide angle lens meant I took a lot of photos suitable for stitching together using Panorama software.
However couldn't find my old Canon Software CD with Photostitch on it. Must have sold it with the Camera. I believe Photostitch still ships with Canon Cameras and was wondering if anybody could get me a copy. I don't think it matters too much if its not the latest version as I have downloaded the latest upgrade from Canon (http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0029056.asp) but it needs the original software installed or the Software CD.

Some interesting stuff about using Canon Photostitch here http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/photostitch.htm

Did download some trial Calico Panorama software from http://www.kekus.com which worked well and if I can't get sorted out then I can upgrade to the Full version of Calico.
Here is a quick test shot using Calico (saved at low res)

Or any other Panorama software anybody could recommend for an Apple Mac ? (2Gb, 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo OS X 10.4.11)

Thanks in advance Iain

Craig

Many thanks for offering to help out. However I just checked the CD software that came with my Canon Camcorder (which can take photos) and guess what was on the Apple Mac CD. Imagebrowser 5.0 and Photostitch 3.1

Installed them both and now upgraded to Photostitch 3.2

So I am all sorted now.

Thanks again

Iain

Don't have Photoshop CS3 though did download the trial version overnight as I found it had a 'merge' feature. Will have a look at it soon.

I have Apple Aperture 2 on my Mac but only just starting to play with it. It dosn't have a merge feature though

Cheers Iain

Tried Aperture as well and found it painfully slow on my Macbook Pro compared
to the Photomechanic/CS3 combo I've been using despite maxing out on memory.

Did look great and I liked the work flow so I may need to have another go......... :)

Did you try Aperture v1 or v2? If it was 1 I suggest you give 2 a go. I refused to buy v1 for its slowness, but v2 is orders of magnitude quicker. Works fine on big folders of raw images with 2Gig ram on my Macbook (not pro).
