Hats of to MMC Edinburgh's service department!

Post by Andy G » Fri Apr 28, 2006 10:10 am

Guys

Just wanted to let you know that I have had quite simply "awesome" service this week from MMC, in light of my engine warning light saga!

After getting me in immediately on Saturday morning for a diagnostic, and check of the car after the home mode situation of Friday night, bizarrely a day later another warning light came on.

Called yesterday and spoke to Bill, who somehow managed to squeeze the car in first thing this morning. Alistair (who has been a star through this) took the car out with the diagnostic kit, and managed to diagnose the fault as a sticking flap in the throttle body (excuse my lack of technical understanding). That has now been cleaned etc, and the car is back, all fine. (not trying to tempt fate!)

In addition to fitting me in at no notice, they are also trying to get me a new throttle body under warranty (which expired 6 weeks ago).

I have to say that thay have been awesome with me and thought they deserved some praise.

Oh, and they haven't charged me for any of this!

:D   :D

Call me a cynic, but I'd suspect they're keeping you sweet so you buy an 'S' off them. But then I'm naturally cynical.

Good on them though, it's great when people go over and above what you expect. :D Glad the car's OK. :thumbsup

TBH Tom, this is more like the MMC service of old.... Heard many a story about the likes of Tut turning up early doors before trackdays and having something fixed there and then.....

Despite having my own Lotus technical support crew on KH on Sat (thanks Ali), the bloody problem re-appeared with the rev limiter flying back in at 6.5k! Still managed to get 6-7 laps at a time before it did.

Did mean that I was trying to carry more and more speed in to the bends as I didn't have performance cam for the straights on some laps :( That had mixed results including my biggest slide yet at the chicane when the rev limiter engaged mid corner

Huge thanks to Ali for managing to reset my ECU about 6-7 times in the pits :D Top bloke!

Only downer is Ali is of on hols this week, so car will be kept in garage till he returns next Monday......gutted
