cannot believe I did that...

Post by Pat02 » Mon Apr 03, 2006 1:46 pm

Had the car now, 14 months, been soooo careful, don't park near kerbs, leave plenty of room when parking, to get out/in. Then on Sat, parking up at Pet's R us (or whatever), pull into the space, bags of room either side, reversed back a little to line it up, pulled forward, then it happened, the most awful sound in the world, a crunching/scrapping, coming from the front. First thought "caught the number plate", then realised, nope, number plate sitting right on the edge of its plinth, so as not to catch anything. Get out, to a sight of fibre glass and paint, scrapped off the front of the car. Looking liked I took sand paper to it. On kneeling down to look, you can now see through the body work, through the nice hole, I put in it.

Felt sick as a parrot (never really understood that phrase), wanted to go home there and then. The worst part..I DID IT...no one else to blame, no one to scream at, what a tube I felt....ah well another body work repair to add to the list (have blistered peeling paint, just above drivers door lock) and the obvious stone chips.

Whinge over, cheers for that, you could tell the wife was tired of hearing me, cursing under my breath and being a tad nippy...

It's on a mater of time until that happens.

Zippy and I both have cobalt blue S2's. From the front you can only tell the difference because his scrape is on the left and mine on the right!

does this mean I am going to be even more anal than norm when parking, from now on...or will it wear off slightly and I will be back to my normal paranoid self......

You know, its just the not having someone to blame thing that is hurting the most. I am having to accept 100% the full, "well its your own fault anyway"...AH well, once the body work is all shiny and new, I will be fine ('til the first stone chip)...I think I should just accept, this car will have little marks on it, and if you see one without, its either brand new or has been ruined by being never really been driven......or words to that effect

Pat, how long have you had it?!?

I did that to mine within 48 hours!

Okay it wasn't a kerb, but it was a parking 'incident'.

Lost the front number plate within 24 hours of ownership.
