111R Exhausts

Post by Derek » Sat Mar 18, 2006 10:11 pm

Just back from Donington, and apart from the black nose badge, a few model cars and a very cool Team Gold Leaf cap, guess which exhaust I got....

Apparently the standard 111R exhaust is 2nd from the right.

And the Q/S titanium is the first one from the left.

So, early start in the morning to get it fitted, and then to wake the entire Kingdom of Fife from their Sunday morning slumber.

I'm sure it will be fine :P

Thanks to Greg at Hanger 111 for best price, cheaper than asda etc etc etc.

Derek, is the far right one a stage 2?

Look forward to hearing it, I like the stage 2 but find it very boomy on the motorway. Would like something a bit "sharper".

You`ve probably started fitting it by now but check this PH posy it has some fitting info that may be of use

Order in pic is
QS Titanium - QS Stainless - Lotus Stage 1 - Lotus Stage 2

2nd from right is a Stage 1! The standard is even bigger!!!!

Its Jim V @ http://www.2bular.com/
Think Alicrozier has one of his zausts

I have always liked the Arqray style single exit, what I did not like was the price and how loud they are.
So have been chatting with Jim for months now, discussing the spec, style, size and noise levels.

There is also other reasons for this style one is the less bends the better for gas flow, this style cuts a couple of bends out.
Weight- The zaust will be lighter than the standard (not hard) also taking the rear panel off gets rid of more weight.
Cooling- the rear panel removed allows increased airflow important with the planned sc.
Noise- Should be track friendly

Jim has made me a rear panel illuminator kit up (dont like the Hanger 111 one) Also have a trick up my sleeve for the number plate.
Will reveal all next weekend

Finally got aound to fitting the new exhaust today. :)

I think it's actually easier to remove a major organ than it is to remove the original R exhaust. Now, the S1 or S2, very easy - 3 bolts and then the hangers. Well, on the R the exhaust is the size of an elephant to start with, and fully encased in heatshield material. It's also a push-fit onto the cat, rather than a bolt on, and there are double hangers too - due of the weight of the factory fit item. And on the pax side - they are a royal PITA to get at.

So off with the old - eventually. The Quicksilver Ti was easy enough to go on, didn't have any of the problems that the Piston Heads guy had with heatshield interference or the like, and from the garage sounds great.

I'll give it a run in the morning and see how it sounds on the move.

Now it's time for wine.
