Absolutely ridiculous bit of road to have a 30 limit on
points on license - does it affect insurance?

Not the case- certainly not with Admiral group companies anyway.kenny wrote:Not 100% but I think you are supposed to notify the insurance of any changes, points etc. If they want they can void your insurance if you dont declare the points right away.ed wrote:Im afraid it does, but not normally until you renew.
In the policy booklet it has a page where it says (I'm paraphrasing here);
"Tell us immediately if;
You change your vehicle
You have an accident
You are disqualified from driving
Tell us at your next renewal if;
You have penalty points added to your licence"
Edit;
See admiral site, standard policy documents link, page 7.

Not good though mate
Your insurance will definitely go up - they're looking for any excuse to stuff you for more cash these days. You could always try the old move house manouvre that seems to have lost people their points in the past

Most insurance companies do not add anything for the first speeding conviction, but will add for any second or subsequent ones. However some will load your premium from the first set, and some insurers will not provide any cover at all if there are any convictions.
You do not need to inform them until renewal. If you do tell them straight away they will not (actually are not allowed to) adjust your premium mid-term. This is part of the risk they accepted when they took your initial premium, just like they cannot adjust your premium mid-term as a result of a claim.
You normally do need to inform them of any pending convictions that you are aware of at the time of renewal, even if you do not know the outcome yet.
